Create a Virtual Directory - Step IV
The following are the steps that you take to create a virtual directory in Windows XP Professional.
1. Click Start > Control Panel.
2. Click on the Performance and Maintenance link in the Control Panel.

3. Click on the Administrative Tools link in the Performance and Maintenance window.

4. Double-click on the Internet Information Services shortcut in the Administrative Tools window.

5. Click on the (+) sign to the left of your computer name (FORDWEBS-1 in the image below) to expand it.
6. Click on the (+) sign to the left of Web Sites to expand it.
7. Right-click on Default Web Site and select New > Virtual Directory.

8.This will open the Virtual Directory Creation Wizard. Click Next.

9. Now you must give the directory an alias. This alias is what you will type after http://localhost to access your web site. Type tutorial in the Alias box of the Virtual Directory Alias window and click Next.

10. Click on the Browse button in the Web Site Content Directory window.
